Experience
I have been tutoring since I started middle school. I began tutoring others because I realized I loved school, so I started on subjects where I naturally excelled and expanded from there. Choosing to have my own tutor proved to be a great decision and a tremendous asset. In high school I took AP English, AP Psychology, AP Spanish, and AP History at a high school ranked in the top five in Texas. As a Psychology major, I have taken many courses on the developing child and the developing mind, also extensive courses on learning and behavior. Baylor pushes their students passed any preconceived limits. Baylor offered me an extremely well-rounded education, and did not accept less then my best in any subject, not just courses in my major. As a tutor, I know I can help students in copious ways. It is easy for elementary students to begin thinking they are dumb when they struggle with material they think their classmates understand. It is imperitive to stop that line of thought and show that a little extra explanation is needed from time to time. Elementary students are just beginning their educational journey, so a tutor at this age is no less important to help keep them up to speed with concepts they will use as foundation for the rest of their academic career. Entering middle school, as final grades are recorded, students' grades begin to reflect intelligence and affect placement in future high school classes. Once in high school, GPA becomes the student's prized possession; every class matters, because each final grade is calculated into their GPA. It is imperitive to find a tutor if any or all of the following occur: your students thinks a new class will be difficult, they come across a harder section of material, and/or they receive a lower test score than expected. Each situation will negatively affect the student's GPA, and it is much easier to lower a GPA than to raise one. In addition, maintaining a good GPA means doing more than just assigned bookwork and homework. To prepare for college, students have to change their approach to class work. College classes expect the student to learn the knowledge presented to them and not simply memorize material for the next test. As a tutor, I will help you develop the skills to learn and not memorize. Once you have those skills, absorbing information becomes much easier. As I hope you can see, all levels of school education present struggles for students, and a tutor will help your student see school in a positive light, helping students see obstacles as challenges they will overcome and benefit from, and not problems that hinder their progress and/or make them feel stupid- a feeling that can dramatically, negatively affect both one's attitude toward school and their success.

Hobbies
My parents offered me a great upbringing, where I always had a reason to be active and not sedentary. My mother exercised the left side of my brain with creativity, art, crafts, sewing, writing stories and poems, and thinking out of the box. My father exercised the right side of my brain focusing on pragmatic learning, reading comprehension, writing with correct grammar and sentence structure, expanding my vocabulary, and showing me an interest in math and sciences. Together, they taught me to love sports. I always practiced a sport when my father got home from work: softball, basketball, tennis, or volleyball. Often, my family would pick a sport to play a game together. I have an older sister who has been my role model since I knew who she was. Her unwavering friendship never goes unappreciated or gets taken for granted. My grandparents blessed my life by teaching me to love books and music. For that, I will be forever grateful to them. I took up the violin in 7th grade, because my grandpa played. The violin is such a beautiful instrument, and I love playing it. For my personality, I am strong willed and loyal, but I dislike conflict, which I sometimes view as a character flaw when I would rather I stood up for myself. In life, I am driven and dedicated; I commit myself to a task and do not do anything halfway. I have a strong Christian faith that shows in how deeply I care for people; however, I know how to keep my faith and my job separate when needed.
